I believe that the implementation of Understanding by Design unit development in my professional practice represents distinguished level performance in that the units designed in collaboration with other teachers serve as a model of appropriate learning expectations. In addition, these units provide clear instructional goals, expected outcomes, approaches that respond to the needs of a variety of learners and skill/standards based assessments. The units provide clear directions and procedures which are particularly helpful for beginning teachers. These units have been implemented by teachers across the district during the school year and during summer school. Designing and helping teachers implement these lessons/units has helped me be more purposeful and methodical in my practice. Paula Lamina
